Bow ties, fur hoods, man cardigans – in case you worry Flora’s filling your head with too much “girl-approved fashion,” fear not – I’ve been doing my homework on some stuff boys like (from the boy himself).

First item up for discussion, Hurley’s newly launched line of boardshorts, the very handsome, ridiculously high-tech Phantom collection.

Upon laying my eyes on these babies, I immediately wondered are these the ones? The ones I’ll reach for all summer whether I’m out surfing, swimming or even just lounging pool-side, because they’re really and truly my new favorite pair of swim trunks? After taking them out for a test swim, I can safely say yes, these will do just fine.

Made from a patent-pending 4 way stretch fabric, they’re not only comfortable, they’re also ultra lightweight and thin (let’s just say I had to peer intently in the bathroom mirror to ensure my dignity would be in tact). And at 22″ in length, they’re just long enough to cover my pale thighs.

Equally as nice a change as the bow tie for formal attire is – wait for it – how about no tie at all?

Ah, beauty products. It’s not every day you discover one that works for both you AND the boyfriend. I recently got to try a new line of unisex hair products from French brand, Privé, that is trés amazing. This eco-friendly line has everything from shampoo to conditioner to finishing creme.

My favorite product? The Grooming Creme for those bothersome fly-aways and frizzies.

Boyfriend Derrick generously offered to test the products as well. The guy’s perspective? “Enough hold without being greasy, and smells great too. Makes me feel like a ridiculously good looking European dude,” he said of the Sculpting Pomade.

So thanks Prive for your lovely hair products – together Derrick and I have become a ridiculously well-coiffed couple. Merci!
