Blackbird is having a sale! You can check out the whole selection here OR just buy my favorite sale item, the KZO Muir shirt:

KZO Shirt Red

Yup, it’s plaid. Are you surprised? Here it is in green:

KZO Shirt Green

KZO Muir Shirt ($146) in wine and forest.

While still pricey at $146, this 100% wool shirt can double as a light jacket, perfect for mild LA winters and brisk spring temperatures. Your mom always reminded you to bring a jacket whenever you left the house – now with the KZO Muir Shirt, you can tell her, ‘Already got it, Ma!’

So I’m browsing Gilt late at night again (what’s a working gal to do?) and their Gant sale reminded me of a shirt I meant to blog about, but somehow never got around to.

Spotted amongst the sea of plaid at Barney’s, this checkered shirt and I shared an instant connection:

Gant Shirt Sleeves

Black and white gingham with a touch of lumberjack plaid at the collar and sleeves…is it superficial to call it love at first sight?

In a season dominated by plaid shirts, this one by Gant offers a refreshing spin with contrasting plaid touches in just the right areas. And while this particular shirt has been out for a while now making it a tad hard to find, it’d be an injustice to not even try to look for this perfect plaid wonder.

Trip to Barney’s, anyone?

Spotted: Paul Walker gracing GQ’s January issue in none other than a suit paired with a plaid shirt, demonstrating like Chuck Bass, plaid is made for any occasion. And with New Year’s Eve just around the corner, it makes for a great outfit option, guaranteed to catch a girl’s eye as fast and furious as if you were PW himself.

Good old plaid. You can always count on it to give you that cool “I-just-rolled-out-of-bed” look. Or how about the “I’ve-just-been-chopping-some-wood-in-the-wilderness-but-hey-I-still-look-good” look?

The recent plaid revival has been spotted in countless casual looks, but it’s rarely used for dressier occassions. And with plaid shirts dominating every display window in the mall this season, it’s understandable how you may have accumulated 2, 3…10 plaid shirts into your wardrobe.

What to do with a closet full of plaid looks? It’d be a pity to reserve them for only casual weekend wear. Instead try incorporating your tartan and flannel with the dressier items from your wardrobe and take your favorite plaid shirt to work with you!

Dress Up Your Plaid

1. Gap Fitted Brushed Gingham Shirt ($44.50) 2. J Crew Urban Slim-Fit Herringbone Wool Bowery Pant ($128) 3. Rag & Bone Warp Tie ($125) 4. Kenneth Cole Skinny Tie Clip ($35)

You’ll be channeling your inner Chuck Bass in no time – you know you love him, XOXO.

Because as much as you want to, you just can’t wear a pressed shirt, skinny tie, and pocket square every day. Sometimes you just want to kick back and relax and Steven Alan shirts were made for those days.

Stock up at their sample sale this weekend on favorites like the single-needle and reverse-seam shirts, available in a wide assortment of solids, stripes, and of course, plaid. Expect prices to be around $65 for shirts, $19 for polos, and $35 for shorts (via Racked).

Steven Alan

Casual, without looking sloppy, Steven Alan lends itself to that rustic sartorial look that belongs in the great outdoors. It’s lumberjack chic – lumberjack not required.
